Level Four Orthotics and Prosthetics, located in Winston Salem, North Carolina is excited to announce the expansion of their central fabrication operation.  Our increased business demand is leading us to search for certified orthotic and prosthetic fabrication technicians to join our highly skilled team.   Skills in the cutting and finishing process through to the completion of a device are preferred.  Ideal candidate will possess knowledge of polypropylene, copolymer and carbon fiber bracing.  These positions require the knowledge or ability to build an orthosis and/or prosthesis.   Metal bending and shoe work is a plus but can be taught.  These are skilled finishing positions.   Our fabrication facility is a well-equipped, full service center.  Certification in the field is a plus but not a requirement.  3-5 years of experience is desired.  Moving expense considered for the right candidate.

Job Scope

To work with the technical aspects of Orthotic and/or Prostetic Devices

Role and Responsibilities

  • To fabricate or repair orthotic and/or prosthetic devices.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to perform those operations and fabricate those devices in which he/she has had instruction in standard time with acceptable quality and without assistance.
  • Must demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn additional fabrication step and devices.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations.
  • Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other governmental regulations.
  • Perform fabrication processes according to company quality and quantity standards.
  • Maintain inventory of items used during fabrication process.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift necessary supplies or materials frequently throughout the course of a work day/shift; must be capable of easily lifting fifty (50) pounds of weight alone.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stand, and reach constantly during a work day/shift.
  • Visual acuity (near and distant) sufficient to maintain accurate records, recognize people, and understand written direction.
  • Ability to speak and hear sufficiently to understand and give directions.
  • Fine motor skills adequate for repairing and creating orthotic devices.
  • Ability to participate in sustained activities for many hours in duration in accordance with state labor laws.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to three years’ experience in fabrication or as a technician OR certification from a technical training school required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
