The Medical Sales Representative will be responsible for achieving sales objectives by cultivating new and existing referral sources. These sources include physicians, institutions (hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, etc.) and allied health professionals, who participate in the provision of prosthetic and orthotic products. This position will service the territory assigned under the direction of the local Area Vice President in collaboration with the Vice President of Sales.


·         Possesses and consistently demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all policies and procedures of the company.

·         Achieve overall territory revenue objectives and prosthetic objectives.

·         Build collaborative and consultative relationships with clinicians and administrative personnel.

·         Construct Sales/Business Development Focus Plan for each assigned area with the territory through the collaboration of the clinical team and area vice president.

·         Achieve new referral source sales objectives as determined by the company.

·         Conduct extensive new referral source development program to include; in services, cold calls, drop-ins, relationship development, etc. to create an ample pipeline of potential new referral prospects.

·         Connect clinicians to potential referral source through formal presentations, educational events, etc.

·         Close sales transaction and monitor business via a structured reporting process. Follow up as necessary to secure and maintain business.

·         Coordinate any contract/agreement as necessary in accordance with contracting process.

·         Ensure existing referral source maintenance and expansion objectives through follow-up and recognition practices.

·         Complete a weekly report that measures and monitors business flow from key referral sources through the Futura System.

·         Determine an Upsell/Resell plan for referral sources that are not fully penetrated.

·         Complete a regular review of current referral sources looking for drops in business flow.

·         Conduct referral source follow up after patient delivery.

·         Facilitate relationship management between referral source and practitioner.

·         Become a partner to the VP of Prosthetics and assisting in growing this area of focus by heightening awareness to referral sources within the market.

·         Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.

·         Work with marketing to provide information/stories that can be used to enhance our company awareness; improving website, marketing collaterals and giveaways based on what is being communicated.

Required Skills

·         Knowledge of medical community.

·         Knowledge of prosthetic and orthotic products.

·         Ability to operate independently in a self-directed manner.

·         Ability to sell and market to the referral sources of this industry.

·         Ability to cultivate and maintain customer relations.

·         Ability to communicate persuasively both orally and in writing.

·         Strong interpersonal skills and persuasive skill set.

·         Reliable transportation, and the ability to travel to client locations.

·         Proficient computer skills including Windows based office technologies, email, and automated billing systems.

·         Ability to use all necessary office equipment, scanner, facsimile machines, calculators, postage machines, copiers, etc.

·         Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks.

·         Proficiency with basic math and accounting skills.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

·         BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and experience.

·         Non revoked, valid passenger vehicle driver’s license.

·         Minimum two to four years in medical sales.

·         Experience in orthotics and prosthetics preferred.
